-My boyfriend and I are thinking about getting an apartment together. However, we want to save up money first, before we do get an apartment. We want to open up a savings account to help us do so. What should we look for when signing up for a savings account? Like what bank would you recommend? Some banks that are around us are BECU, Bank of America, Chase, US Bank, Key Bank, Wells Fargo.A landlord is going to want a checking account.
Why? The stats are there that people without checking accounts are more often late or miss payments.
Find a bank that is convenient to you (or your new locations)
You may find that ATMS are most important so you can get cash at anytime.
Credit unions are best for starters - but they don't have many ATMs or branches
Big boy banks have to be respected. If you are the type that would ever in a million years use more than you have in your account, steer clear of big banks
Do NOT under any circumstances open any accounts together until you are married.
You can open a checking and he can give you his half the the rent and you can write a check
i have had great service with chase. bank of america are less than credible
also look for low ,if not no fee accounts.
look for a credit union.
