Money came out of self checkout cash dispenser?

-I was buying a few items from a store (20 or more dollars) and I used my credit card. When I was done I saw $41.00. I took it thinking it was mine but I don't know. Is it my money? Or am i a thief lol

and has this ever happen to you?The customer before you left their change in the checkout dispenser. It really belongs to that customer. What I would do is call the store and tell them that if a customer calls saying they left their change in the dispenser, they should call you & give the store your phone number.



Then when someone calls, ask them how much change there was. If they don't know, or they tell you the wrong amount, then you can say "Well, then I didn't find your change because it wasn't that amount." If they say "I don't remember the exact amount" then tell them to look on their receipt--it shows the amount of change that was given back.



If they can tell you 'It was $41.00" then you should assume they told the truth and offer to return the money to them.



If you turn it in at the store, chances are the person you turn it in to will just keep it. Or if nobody ever claims it, the store will just keep it. They may tell you someone came and claimed it when they did not. I wouldn't turn it in to the store.



Or you can just keep quiet & let them lose their money. It's up to you.
I would keep it. Somebody probably forgot it there before you. I once found $2 in one when I was 9; I kept it, but I guess this is sort of different. If you feel guilty, post an ad on craigslist stating that you found some money in a self checkout cash dispenser and if someone can say where and an amount then they can get it. Or you could have them show a receipt.
No but if it ever did happen then I would just thank god for giving me free money and go about my business. I mean how can anyone say you stole it when all you have to do is say that you thought you overpaid or something!
Does it realy matter, money is for spending, just spend it
